Hello all.

I have read notes about acceptable licenses and sources, and I have
both question and proposal about MSLP. I found it while rechecking my
samples/soundbanks collection. Samples modification date range from
2005 to 2010. One issue, however, is that their official site is down
(I can't ping).

License - from first look is not fine:
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/

But begining of licensing readme (MLSM LICENSE READ ME.txt) has
following claim (don't mind letter case, just pasted as is):

IMPORTANT!!!
I CHOSE THE 'CC BY-NC' LICENSE TO STOP ANYONE FROM SELLING THE SAMPLES.
BUT THE SAMPLES ARE FREE TO USE FOR ANY CREATIVE MUSICAL PURPOSES. YOU
CAN SELL YOUR MUSIC MADE FROM THE SAMPLES. BEING A NO:1 HIT SONG, MUSIC
FOR TV/RADIO COMMERCIALS OR A BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE SOUNDTRACK, IT DOES NOT
MATTER! I ONLY ASK YOU TO (IF POSSIBLE AND CONVENIENT!!) GIVE THE
PROJECT CREDIT, e.g. END TITLES OR CD SLEEVE. OTHERWISE, DROP ME A
LINE, I'D LOVE TO KNOW WHERE THE SAMPLES ARE BEING USED.

(file itself is attached).

As for why I wonder about it. This is only place, where I found samples
true symphonic bass drum - really big, not even smaller version, more
suitable for music college student orchestra. It sounds very similar to
one, used in SSO, whose readme clearly mentions MSLP among sources.

Comparing both, MSLP originally seems to have more samples, than used
in SSO, which involves only two - forte and piano. Successor sfz's,
such as VPO3, seem just inheriting SSO without changes, at least in
case of bass drum - at least it has no MSLP samples dir, but has SSO in
several places (there is some split between melodic and percussion).

I'm about to try making more detailed bass drum version, just to
compare it with SSO variant and for self. If MSLP licensing is ok for
freepats, I would submit it.
